The rules
How to play
One photo. Zoomed too far. Guess it before the world fools you.
- 01
It opens at ×40
Cropped down to bare texture. No edges, no shadow, no context. Pattern and colour, nothing else.
- 02
6 guesses
Each miss costs 90. Near-misses in spelling still count.
- 03
Pull back, but it costs
Every step out costs 140. Solving it at ×40 is the only way to a perfect score.
- 04
Trap round
Your wrong answer today becomes someone else's trap tomorrow. This is the part that makes the game grow on its own.
Questions
How do I play CLOSER?
Each day one photo is cropped in until only texture is left. Type what you think it is. You get 6 guesses. If you are stuck you can pull the camera back, but each step costs 140 points.
What is the trap round?
Every wrong answer players type today is stored. The next day the three most common ones are served back as decoys in a multiple-choice round. The game gets harder because of the players, not because a designer made it harder.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the page and play. No email, no download, no app. Your streak lives in your own browser.
How is the score calculated?
You start with 1000. Pulling back one step costs 140. A wrong guess costs 90. The floor is 100. Solving it while still zoomed all the way in is worth the most.
Does spelling have to be exact?
No. Small typos are forgiven on longer words, common synonyms are accepted, and answering in either supported language counts as correct.
When does the new puzzle drop?
Midnight Bangkok time. Everyone in the world gets the same photo each day.
